The Dawning of a New Age
For the CFR Part 135 Air Carrier Operator (and Part 91K), the world is one currently under significant change. The Federal Aviation Administration is driving new requirements, greater oversight, and therefore greater expectations of the 135 Air Carrier and Part 91K Operator. They are proactively moving away from compliance–based surveillance to Systems Management Programs. These types of approaches have been implemented throughout the CFR Part 121 Air Carrier industry and are now being directed towards, applied, and expected by the FAA for CFR Part 135 and 91K Air Carriers to employ. Although these teams have performed admirably in a business age of "do more with less", they will all attest to the fact that they are reaching a point of critical overload and new systems and solutions must be developed that support their needs, current and future.
